CIT~ OF FAIRFIELD ORDINANCE NO. 89- ~ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9.2 of CHAPTER 9 and ARTICLE of CHAPTER 12 of the FAIRFIELD CITY COD~ RELATING TO GARBAGE CONTAINERS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFIELD DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: Section 9.2 of Chapter 9 of the Fairfield City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 9.2 Regulations as to accumulation and storage. No person shall deposit, keep, accumulate, permit, cause or suffer any rubbish, wet garbage or garbage to be deposited, kept or accumulated upon any lot or parcel of land, or on any public or private place, street, lane, alley or drive unless the same shall be kept, deposited or allowed to accumulate as follows: (a) Garbage. No person shall keep, accumulate or permit any garbage to be accumulated upon any lot, parcel of land or any public or private lane, place, street, alley or drive unless the same shall be in metal o~ heavy-duty rubberized receptacles provided with fully functional handles. Such receptacles shall have a capacity of not more than thirty-two gallons and shall be provided with close fitting lids or covers which shall be kept closed at all times except when necessarily opened to permit garbage to be taken therefrom or deposited therein. (b) Wet garbage. Every accumulator of wet garbage within the city shall provide or cause to be provided and at all times to keep or cause to be kept separate containers or receptacles for holding wet garbage. Such receptacles shall be constructed of metal or of heavy-duty rubberized material as to contain not more than thirty-two gallons and shall be provided with fully functional handles on the outside thereof and with tight fitting covers. Such receptacles shall at all times be kept covered, except when necessary to place garbage therein or to take garbage therefrom. Each such receptacle, including its cover, shall be kept clean from accumulating grease or decomposing material on the outside. (c) Rubbish and yard trimmings on premises. No person shall keep, accumulate or permit to be kept or accumulated any rubbish or yard trimmings unless the same be kept in a suitable box or boxes or other suitable receptacles, which shall be kept on each premises sufficient to hold the rubbish which would ordinarily accumulate on such premise~.
